Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) started in the year 1988 by Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). The Medical College and hospital is located on the outskirts of Tumkur city – 6 km from the city amidst green field in a vast campus of 220 acres on the Bangalore – Honnavar national highway and is about 76 Km from Bangalore city well connected by road and rail.

SMC Hospital has separate building for OPD and causality with independent departments of Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Dermatology, and Radiology.

It is a 1350 bedded hospital, fully equipped with 12 major operation theaters in addition to minor operation theaters. SSMC is catering the needs of rural population. There are skilled doctors with specially trained nurses to give a healing touch to the patients. The Hospital building also has a post office and a bank to serve the needs of staff, students and the public. There is a canteen, hospital mess, fruit stall and a phone booth to cater the needs of the public.

1. SIDDHARTHA ADVANCED HEART CENTER

Sri Siddhartha Medical College & Hospital in association with Kardiac Frontida started the SIDDHARTHA ADVANCED HEART CENTER on 26th Nov 2020 which is the first of its kind in Tumkur district, to cater to the heart diseases prevailing among the poor & needy. It has state-of-the-art equipment with the latest Cardiac Care Unit setup to nurture patients post cardiac surgeries. Scope of services includes CARDIAC SUREGEY – Adult Cardiac Surgery, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Complex Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (Key Hole), Aortic Surgery, Heart Failure Surgery, Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). CARDIOLOGY – Angiogram, Angioplasty, Pacemaker implantation, Balloon Valvotomy, Rotablation, Device Closure, Coiling. As a result a successful CABG was done for the first time in Tumkur district on 16th of January 2021, free of cost, for a poor & needy patient. Post-surgery, the patient has been stable & doing well. Till date 2 open heart surgeries, 3 angioplasties and 28 angiograms have been done successfully with over 50 inpatients and 450 out patients.
