The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) was set up in 1960 as one of the eight colleges for engineering education in the country. NIT Durgapur offers a range of courses such as MCA, B.Tech, MBA, PhD and M.Tech to students after successful completion of their courses. Chemical engineering, computer science and engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, metallurgical and materials engineering, biotechnology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and physics are some of the disciplines offered at NIT Durgapur.

The selection process at the institute is on the basis of State rank/All India Rank of AIEEE which is conducted by the CBSE. Apart from the regular intake, NIT Durgapur also reserves few seats for foreign students nominated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India. NIT Durgapur is situated about 160 km north-west of Kolkata on the Howrah-Delhi main railway route. The institute is co-educational and fully-residential.

The B.Tech selection process at NIT Durgapur for various courses is done on the basis of JEE Main followed by the counselling (JoSAA). There is no age limit as such for the admission. The merit list that will be prepared will be subject-group wise and the course allocation will also be done on this basis. Post the selection of the course and admissions confirmation, the candidates will have to appear at the NIT Durgapur campus to proceed with the admission formalities. The eligibility criteria for pursuing M.Tech at NIT Durgapur is that the candidate should have pursued BE/ B.Tech or its equivalent degree in a relevant stream and should have scored at least 55 percent.

NIT Durgapur M.Tech Application Process 2019

For M.Tech application process at NIT Durgapur, the application form is there on the official website. The candidates will then have to submit the filled application form and send it along with a demand draft of Rs.500 for general category candidates and Rs.250 for SC/ST and PwD candidates.

There is 30 per cent preference for the GATE score, rest 30 per cent is for the written test and the remaining 40 per cent is for the viva.
