About M.Phil in Nursing

M.Phil in Nursing Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for M.Phil in Nursing, candidates must meet the eligibility conditions mentioned below. All those who meet the eligibility of M.Phil Nursing can apply:

  • Candidates must have a master's degree in Nursing approved by the Indian Nursing Council with a minimum of 55% aggregate.
  • In some colleges, 5% relaxation is also given to the candidates belonging to the OBC/ SC/ ST/ PwD category.

M.Phil in Nursing Admission Process

M.Phil is a doctoral-level programme, therefore, admissions to the M.Phil courses will be based similar to PhD admissions in India. While there are no entrance tests for admission to M.Phil in Nursing, each college or university offering the courses will define their requirements and admission processes for the respective courses. In most cases, M.Phil Nursing admissions in India are done based on two commonly opted admission process which can either be Merit-based or Written Test-based. Here are the steps in M.Phil Nursing admission processes in India.

Written Test-Based Admissions

  • Universities/Colleges often choose to conduct a written test as well as Personal Interview to shortlist candidates to offer an M.Phil Nursing admission.
  • This is commonly opted by most colleges across India.
  • Each candidate aspiring to pursue an M.Phil in Nursing course in India must sit for a Written Test, which will most likely be designed by individual colleges itself.
  • Subsequently, based on the performance in the test, candidates may be called to participate in the Personal Interview Session.
  • The overall performance of the candidate in the written test and the personal interview, the candidate will be shortlisted for the final few steps of admissions, which may include document verification and submission of tuition and colleges fees.

Merit-Based Admissions

  • Under such situations, candidates will be selected purely on the basis of their performance in the qualifying exam or degree.
  • After the submission of the application form, the candidates will be asked to submit the necessary documents to support their application and eligibility.
  • Few colleges may also require additional applications with respect to their thesis, however, this will differ from college to college.
  • Candidates who qualify for admissions will be asked to participate in a personal interview.
  • With respect to the past academic record of the candidate and their performance in the personal interview, prospective M.Phil students will be shortlisted for admissions to the M.Phil in Nursing programme.
