After Successful completion of the Certificate Course in Maritime Catering ,the debutant Seafarer would typicality join a vessel as a General Steward or trainee /2nd cook and Subsequently rise to become Chief Cook/Chief Steward is responsible for all Food & Beverage on board the ship ,for the provisions stores ,for general hygiene and housekeeping .The Chief Cook is usually one of the most pampered and loved person on board .A few years of experience as Chief Cook /Chief Steward can prove professionally rewarding  by way of job opportunities in ‘Cruise Liners (the covered position of Specialist Cook)or in Star Hotels back on the Shores
